Seshat is a Brazilian research group dedicated to investigating the archaeology of Ancient Egypt. It is housed in Brazil’s Museu Nacional, part of Rio de Janeiro’s Federal University (UFRJ). The Museu Nacional is the ideal place to house such research about ancient Egypt, since it holds the biggest and first Egyptian collection of Latin America and was the first institution in the region to establish an Egyptology department.

Here you will be able to find information about the Seshat Lab and the goddess who served as inspiration for its name, its researchers and students, events (especially the annual SEMNA conference) and classes, and its publications; about the history of Egyptology in Brazil; and about the Egyptian collection housed in the Museu Nacional.
